What the Client Wanted
Canteen One engaged our team to deliver specialist joinery for a new retail tenancy within the Martin Place Metro Station. As part of a brand-new transport and retail environment, the brief focused on high-quality joinery that integrated seamlessly with existing finishes while delivering a clean, polished presentation suitable for a premium, high-traffic location.
The client required custom display solutions for fresh produce, along with a feature island and main service counter that aligned with the architectural finishes already in place.
What We Did
Our scope was focused entirely on joinery manufacture and installation, working within an already finished base build where tiles and panels were pre-installed. Precision was critical, as all bespoke joinery needed to be fitted neatly between existing tiled dividers and architectural elements.
We designed and manufactured custom timber trays for fruit and vegetable displays. We wanted to ensure durability and visual consistency across the store. A key feature of the project was the central curved column island display, measuring 1.6 metres wide. Due to its unique shape, templates were created for every individual shelf, with an LED strip integrated into each shelf for consistent lighting.
The main service counter was manufactured using stone components and then fully tiled on site to achieve the required finish.
The Results
The completed joinery delivered a clean, refined retail environment that complemented the surrounding architectural finishes of the Metro station. Attention to detail in templating, fit and finish ensured all elements aligned precisely, resulting in a polished outcome suitable for a high-profile public space.
