How long does a typical shop fitout take?
Timelines vary depending on the size of the store and the complexity of the fitout. We provide a project timeline as part of your itemised quote before work begins, so you have a clear understanding of the expected completion date.
Can you work within shopping centre rules and trading hours?
Yes. We build centre access times, delivery rules and trading hour restrictions into the program from the outset, and we liaise directly with landlords and centre management throughout the project.
Can you work within my landlord's building requirements?
Yes. We work with landlords and building management to coordinate base building requirements, including building services, fire safety requirements and lease conditions. A site inspection early on helps confirm what’s required before work starts.
Do you handle shop fitouts for lease renewals or store relocations?
Yes. Whether you’re refreshing an existing store, relocating, or opening in a new location, we manage the same structured process, from design through to handover.
What happens if I need changes made after the store opens?
Get in touch with our team, and we’ll assess what’s needed. Because we manufacture and install our custom joinery in-house, our team remains a direct point of contact for any joinery-related follow-up work.
What are the most common fit-out mistakes to avoid?
Skipping early planning, underestimating lead times for joinery, or leaving compliance checks until the last minute are some of the biggest gaps in the fit-out process. Locking in your project brief and scope early on, and understanding the importance of a proper site inspection before work starts, helps us identify these early before they cause issues later in the project.

Luke Lonsdale
Project ManagerLuke is Deadline Commercial's Project Manager, coordinating commercial fit outs and custom joinery projects across Sydney from the company's Seven Hills base. With more than a decade in the shopfitting industry, he brings a rare mix of hands-on trade experience with calm, practical project leadership.
Luke began his career in 2013, completing a four-year apprenticeship in shopfitting before working as a site installer for three years. That time on the tools gave him a deep understanding of how high-quality joinery and fit outs come together on site - from the first measurement through to final handover.
Since 2020, Luke has managed projects for Deadline across office, retail, medical, hospitality, pharmacy, and childcare environments. He oversees programming, site coordination, and communication with clients, designers, trades, and building management, always with a focus on delivering safe, tidy, and operational sites with minimal disruption to trading.
